A person can either complete his higher secondary school and join diploma in architecture or complete intermediate education (12th, 2nd puc or equivalent) and then take up one of the entrance exams for B.arch in some of the top engineering colleges in India. CET (Karnataka), AIEEE, NATA, GATE etc are few exams for aspiring architects of the country. Apart from courses and exams interest in the subject is very much necessary to survive in the course. B.arch is one field that involves lot of field work and there have been examples of students backing off due to lack of interest after joining the course. For a person who is passionate about architecture nothing else matters and can end up in his/her dream position.
The course itself is called B.Arch (standing for Bachelor of architecture).
If you have the aptitude for the course you should give it a try. Prepare well for the entrance exams and you can choose a college depending on you scores.
Students who had completed their higher secondary school education with physics, chemistry and mathematics as main subjects, with a minimum 60% pass marks. There are many colleges across the country providing this course, but for getting into top schools you will have to take the entrance exams either given by the college or the common entrance test (nation wise/state wise). For getting into IITs you for learning architecture, give the JEE entrance held in May each year.
