Whether you drive your car in India or any other country, the basic procedure remains same. In case if you don't know driving then you can join driving school. Driving is an art that cannot be learnt without an instructor’s guidance. So find a good driving school, which will guide you through simple methods and steps under their control (they will have double levers), and will take you to some practicing grounds and then gradually to less traffic and then finally to the dense traffic roads. They will even get you prepared for the driving license tests and make it easier for clearing it too. Or else you will end up banging your car to your gate and lose all your hopes of touching that car again.
Driving a car is quite easy if you know how to ride a bike. First you get into the driver seat of the car, fasten your seat belt and start the car by turning on the ignition using the keys.
There will be 3 pedals close to your feet. Remember them as ABC. From right to left they are Accelerator, Brake and Clutch.
You will find a hand brake at your left. This will usually be applied when the car is parked. You need to release that brake before you start. Apply the brake pedal close to your right leg and release the hand brake.
Continue holding the brake pedal.
Press the clutch pedal with your left leg and apply 1st gear using the gear lever at the left of you. Slowly release the clutch and use your right leg to apply acceleration slowly.
You have to drive the car to left and right using steering.
Depending on the car you need to shift gears holding the clutch while shifting. Generally
0-10 kmph – 1st gear
10-20 kmph – 2nd gear
20-40 kmph – 3rd gear
40-60 kmph – 4th gear
60 < kmph - 5th gear
It’s advisable to have a professional driver beside you while learning. These points can give you an idea. But it is different while you are sitting in the driver’s seat. Drive safe.
Knowing how to drive a car is essential as it helps in case of emergency or recreation however, if you want to learn driving then finding the solution through internet is not the best way. If you don’t have a prior driving experience then following mere steps won’t help you. You need to learn driving from an instructor. Please get yourself admitted in a driving school as that would be the safest option. Indian roads have huge traffic and learning the traffic rules is also necessary. If you start driving reading a few step by step instructions it can lead to serious accidents.
