Teaching as a career in india

i have decided to take up teaching as a profession through which i can earn a good living and also and can serve the society by providing the valuable education to the children. recently i met my friend and she told me that there is lesser scope for teaching here and suggested to take up any other profession. i am confused now. can anyone tell me about teaching careers in india so that i can take a proper decision in this regard? Ignore your friend’s words because teaching is a noble profession and having good teachers is always a boon to us. Another advantage of being a teacher is, apart from teaching, the teacher can even be tutor for distance education and also write course books. Teachers have career prospects in nursery schools, colleges, universities, special schools and also in educational research institutes.
